Chapter 24: July 1935

Dear Journal,
Today Aunt Alexandria had the ladies from town over to have lunch and made me stay with them. I first I was nervous and scared but I sat by Miss Maudie and I knew she would treat me like a friend. Something terrible happened though in the middle and Atticus called Aunty, Miss Maudie, Calpurnia and I to the kitchen. He told us that Tom Robinson was dead. Aunt Alexandria looked said and I had hear gossip about the case earlier in the dining room, but Miss Maudie and Aunty walked into that room like nothing happened and kept their composure. I learned a lot about a lady’s world today that I didn’t know before and I decided that if Aunty can do it, so can I.
