Dear Journal,
Jem is still mad about how Ton Robinson’s case turned out and Atticus even seems a little upset about it too. Aunt Alexandria tells me just to give Jem some time and he will get over it, but before Atticus went to bed him an Aunty had another argument about me and Jem going to the courthouse today. Atticus ended it and went to bed, there was a gloomy feel over the house but everything was better in the morning. We had a bunch of food in the kitchen Cal says people have been sending it for Atticus defending Tom Robinson. When we went outside Jem, Dill and I were the talk of the town, three children in the courthouse at Tom Robinson’s case was apparently a scandal. I don’t really understand but I also heard some whispers about sitting in the balcony but I don’t see the big deal about it. Miss Maudie made us cake and tried to explain what happened with the case about how there are more people like Atticus in Maycomb then we think. Then something awful happened, Miss Stephanie came running up telling us Bob Ewell threated to kill Atticus.
